Yoga X
I did Yoga X today because I messed up the order on week 1 of P90X. I did Kenpo X on Day 4 rather than today, Day 6; therefore, I did Yoga X today to compensate.
Tonight I did Yoga X with as much enthusiasm as I could muster. In past experiences, I have enjoyed Yoga. The calming, breathing aspect of yoga has always been fun. This yoga threw me for a loop. It involved some crazy stretching, some even more difficult balancing, and made me break a sweat just like plyometrics at some points. The individuals in the 'yoga class' were made of some type of super flexible goo that put gumby to shame. Honestly, I did not know the human body could twist and bend in such ways. I do not think it is natural.
My thoughts on Yoga X: I am not a flexible person. I started the yoga DVD hoping it would not be too bad. How I was wrong. Part way through the first series of moves I wanted to quit, I wanted to turn the TV off and give up, citing non-flexibility as the source for my discouragement. I kept trying pose after pose only to come to the realization that my body is not meant for such maneuvers. Regardless, I stuck with it, made it through the first (hard part) series of moves and got into balance poses. Those were so much better.
All in all, the DVD was engaging, relaxing, and calming. I would not recommend it to my grandmother to take up beginner yoga, but it had it's hard parts and easier parts (corpse pose is the best thing ever). I believe with time and more flexibility, the Yoga X DVD will become a lot easier. I might be able to actually finish some of the moves.
What do you think of Yoga?
