P90X: Day 12

Legs and Back with Ab Ripper X

It was an interesting Leg and Back P90X workout. With a friend on the way over, I sped up the workout which wore me out pretty considerably. My legs were jello and my back was destroyed. This program seems more geared toward quad and buttock development than hamstring. I'm sure the moves in the program engage the hamstrings, but I don't feel it there like I do in my quads and buttocks.

Ab ripper X went well. I tried upping my reps to 20 of each exercise and it went well. It was considerably harder, but I accomplished it. The V-up thing is still giving me trouble, but I'm sure over time it will be a lot easier.

My thoughts: This DVD will make you fear lunges and one legged wall squats, that's for sure. For the pull up portion of the workout, I have begun doing sets of 5 reps, up from 3 reps per set. Gradual increase in the amount of pullups that I can muster is one of my goals. I hope to reach 15 or 20 pullups by the end of this program.

My flexibility is coming along quite nicely! So far I have gone from not being able to touch my toes with my feet together to being able to almost place both of my palms on the ground in front of my toes.

What are your thoughts on lunges? Are they good, wholesome leg exercises or are they the devil?
